The hotel exudes a delightful charm with its traditional Normandy decor. I adored the timbered architecture and cozy atmosphere throughout. As a senior woman, I appreciated how accessible the hotel was. The general areas were well-maintained, making it easy for me to navigate around the hotel and enjoy its beauty.

I would have loved to see more activities specifically tailored for senior guests. Perhaps some organized tours or events aimed at our age group would have made the vacation even more enjoyable.

I got great value for my money at Du Grand Cerf & Spa. The room was nice and the shower was fantastic. The hotel's location in the lovely village was perfect, and the staff treated me very well.

The food for breakfast could be improved.

The plan was to visit Giverny which we did and was superb. We drove down and spent a long weekend at Lyons la Foret which is a beautiful 16th century village. The hotel was fresh and clean and very comfortable - ancient but also modern with wifi and great shower bathroom. The view to the back is quiet, to the front you cross a small road and walk into a triangular square with covered market hall. We spent Sunday morning in the spa: opened in 2009 with good treatment rooms and an indoor and outdoor pool. Good couple of restaurants no more than 100m from the hotel; great breakfast in the Cafe du Commerce. Even the unobtrusive Co-op had a good selection of domaine AOC red wine for around Euros 5.00 which suited our budget. Small farmers market on sat and sun. The drive to Giverny was easy and very enjoyable along quiet country roads.

Other reviewers have mentioned lack of wardrobes and compact rooms: true, but for a long weekend or even longer fine and ample hooks and hangers. The hotel ticked every box - the spa was the icing on the cake [just two comments: getting out of the hot tub was not easy; functionality somewhat sacrificed for design. The hot tub was not as good as the one we have at home in terms of number of jets, pressures and variable controls]

The best thing about this hotel was the receptionist / dinner waiter (the same young man) who was polite, attentive and genuinely friendly. This dog-friendly hotel takes its woodland theme to the extreme, with bespoke furniture made from sticks and other bits of woodland which makes it quirky and memorable. The fixtures and fittings are all high quality and the shower was fantastic. The location, in the centre of Lyons-la-Foret was excellent; the large light dining room window faces onto the beautiful old market hall.

The waitress at breakfast was the complete opposite of the waiter from the evening before - disinterested and rather unfriendly. The breakfast itself was overpriced - at 30 Euros for the two of us it was a lot to pay for little more than a couple of croissants and some bread and jam. I'd recommend using the boulangerie 20 yards away, or a cafe. Guests should be aware that the spa closes early (it was closed when we arrived at around 7pm, and didn't open again until 10am the next morning which was too late for us to be able to use).

This hotel exceeded our expectations in so many ways. the value for money was outstanding - we couldn't believe what we got for the price we paid. The attention to detail in the rooms was stunning, with a curtain and timbers separating the sitting area from the bedroom area, providing privacy for larger groups. The location was excellent, right on the square of the prettiest village we've ever stayed in. The hotel itself was full of character, just as attractive as the promotional photos had promised. Lastly, the breakfast, which was served up the street at La Unicorn, was exceptionally good. There was a wide variety of high-quality offerings to choose from.

All was great, couldn't ask for more.

The hotel's location was excellent, with beautiful surroundings and easy access to nearby towns and amenities. The staff at this hotel were lovely and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The rooms were stunning, with a clever use of curtains and timbers to create privacy for larger groups staying in the same room. The breakfast, which was included in our stay, was exceptionally good, offering a wide variety of quality options.

All aspects of our stay at this hotel were satisfactory.

The location of this hotel was amazing, set in a charming village, which was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. The hotel facilities were top-notch, with a spa that was wonderful and an on-site bistro that served delicious food. Additionally, the parking was convenient, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.

There was nothing I didn't like. This hotel provided an unforgettable experience and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable stay.

I like the location and the hotel decor. It is very comfortable and relaxing and an ideal venue to explore this part of France.

Only the size of the towels - they could be bigger - but this is being picky

    The breakfast was very good.

The room was far to small and expensive for the comfort expected.

My stay at Hotel Du Grand Cerf & Spa was absolutely fabulous. The hotel is situated in the charming village of Lyons-la-Foret and is beautifully decorated in a restored old building. The room I stayed in was small but comfortable, with a great bathroom and a comfy bed. The highlight of my stay was dining at the Bistro, where Abdul provided excellent recommendations on the dishes and wine. His cheerful personality made the evening truly special. Additionally, the hotel offers a spa and an outdoor pool, adding to the overall relaxation experience. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, as it is nestled in the heart of the picturesque town.

The fact it was in such a lovely village. Very trendy decor, but not particularly French in feel.

The fact that the owner never seems to be there, it would have been a good atmostphere if he/she had have been. It is run by young staff who were friendly but not so helpful with my husband who was on crutches and it would have been kind if they had offered to help us with suitcases. Also to check out we had to go to the hotel along the street (Licorne), again they could have come to us and been a bit more helpful. The reception of the hotel Grand Cerf was unmanned and only opened at 11.00 am.and we wanted to leave at 08.30.. Also our breakfast had to be taken at the sister hotel, The Licorne each day, this hadn't been mentioned in the booking. But all in all it was a nice place.

Even though it was a Sunday night and there were only a few people eating it was delightful . There were also only on;y 3 of us in the hotel overnight.

As we were only 3 we had to go down the road to another hotel for breakfast but they were just as charming

Located in one of the most picturesque villages, a perfect spot to enjoy the countryside. The staff were accommodating and helpful. The spa services were amazing, such a relaxing place to indulge in. Finally, the breakfast that was served was simply sumptuous, with a variety of options to choose from.

There were a few aspects we didn't enjoy such as the lack of elevators, which made the stairs difficult to climb. , the rooms were small, making it inconvenient to accommodate more than two people.
